THE POSITION
The Facility Services Department is seeking a Security Supervisor who will be responsible for the supervision of security operations. This position will directly supervise assigned security staff, respond to incidents, and address the needs of both internal and external customers.
Location and hours:
This position is located at various Hennepin County facilities. Candidates must have reliable transportation and the ability to work at the various locations. Typical work hours will be Monday through Friday, between 6 a.m. – 10 p.m., with occasional evenings, weekends, and/or holidays to accommodate the needs of the team. This position will be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

In this position, you will:
Supervise security personnel in all aspects of their service delivery, develop and maintain work schedules, measure, evaluate, and manage performance of unit staff.
Manage all daily security activity in work unit, including technology, employee concerns, training, security incidents, emergency response, record keeping, and be available in an on-call status as directed.
Interact with and assist law enforcement and other public safety agency/department staff, building occupants, and visitors.
Perform new officer in-service training and maintain related records.
Assist with vendor performance and deployment of security systems.
Assist other county departments and/or facilities in establishing a safe environment for staff, clients, and visitors, including assessments of assigned areas as directed
Need to have: One of the following: Associate degree or higher in security management, asset protection, criminal justice, law enforcement, or approved related field and three or more years of security experience.
Five or more years of security experience.
A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver’s permit.
Ability to be on-call via a cellular phone during and after typical work hours, supervise 24-hour operations, and work irregular hours. A cellular phone will be provided.
Nice to have: Previous supervisory experience.
Experience performing supervisory functions, training, and evaluating performance of security personnel, scheduling work assignments, and enforcing security practices and procedures.
Knowledge of security and safety guidelines, and of laws and regulations that affect security policies, procedures, and operations.
Strong skill in using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote), Incident Reporting Systems, Video Management Systems, and related security technologies as expert end user.
Strong written and verbal communication abilities in business setting.
Ability to: Respond to security service delivery needs using a proactive, customer focused, and solutions-oriented approach.
Act as a liaison with law enforcement, safety, and security agencies, building occupants, departments, and visitors.
Evaluate and solve complex problems.
Engage in complex, time-sensitive planning.
Interact with multiple stakeholders and build consensus on best practices.
