The Membership Committee is excited to launch a Buddy Program in our Chapter! The purpose of this program is to make new members feel welcome and connected to the Chapter by pairing up an existing member (‘buddy’) with a new member during their first year of membership. Details about the program and how to sign up are listed below:
Purpose: To make new members feel welcome and connected to the Chapter by pairing up a current member (‘buddy’) with a new member during their first year of membership.
What does a Buddy do? A buddy serves as a contact and resource for the new member during their first year. Buddies are encouraged to meet with the new member in person at least once during the year to get to know one another, share information and answer questions about the Chapter and IFMA. To help facilitate this, each buddy will be given the new member’s contact information and a gift card, so they can make arrangements to get together for coffee and conversation.
Who can participate? Any existing member can volunteer to be a buddy. New members who have joined in 2017 will be paired up with a buddy. Each buddy could have 3 – 4 new members assigned to them over the course of the year.
How to sign up? To volunteer as a buddy, contact Membership Committee Co-Chairs Kristi Beeskma at firstname.lastname@example.org, 612-590-3272 or Karen Appelbaum email@example.com, 651-225-3877.
